A grade is not a filter. It is a hundred small decisions about where the eye should go, made in a dark room, at the end of a very long process, by someone who has watched the footage more times than the director has.

One colourist per project, start to finish. Remote sessions with calibrated confidence monitoring, or come and sit in the room.

Before / after
Camera original on the left, our grade on the right — both rendered live in a single fragment shader, from the same frame. Drag the handle. This is the whole job in one gesture.
Shadows pulled to a cold neutral so the blacks stop reading as brown.
Midtones shaped around skin, which is the only thing an audience actually measures.
Highlights rolled off early — a hard clip is the fastest way to look cheap.

What does Halide do?
Colour and finishing, since 2014, from rooms in Soho and Mumbai. We grade features and episodic work, finish commercials, and handle conform, VFX pulls, dailies, and mastering and delivery in both HDR and SDR.
What is the difference between a grade and a filter?
A filter is one operation applied uniformly to every frame. A grade is a hundred small decisions about where the eye should go — shadows lifted to a cold neutral so blacks stop reading brown, midtones shaped around skin, highlights rolled off early rather than hard-clipped — made shot by shot in a calibrated dark room.
What do you run?
Baselight and Resolve across four suites and a 4K DCI theatre. The reference wall has been profiled every Monday since 2014, because a grade is only as trustworthy as the monitor it was judged on.
Can I attend the grade remotely?
Yes. Remote sessions run live with calibrated confidence monitoring at your end, so what you approve is what the theatre is showing. You are equally welcome to sit in the room.
Who grades my project?
One colourist, start to finish. Work is not passed between artists between reels or between rounds, so the person who set the look is the person who finishes it.
What deliverables can you master?
HDR and SDR masters, DCP for theatrical, and broadcast and streaming deliverables to platform spec. Conform runs from camera original, never from an offline render.
